Brief introduction about the establishment of ASRIA


The idea and proposal of “ASRIA” was brought by Prof. Dr. Haw Boon Hong to the Governing Board of Trustees on 10th October 2003. The proposal was approved and endorsed by the AU Foundation Board of Trustees on 10th March 2004. An announcement was made on 29th May 2004 in Malaysia to invite nominations. However, Prof. Dr. Dana M. Barry and Prof. Dr. Haw Boon Hong have been appointed to serve as key personnel for overseeing and developing the ASRIA project. A panel of judges has been set up to evaluate nomination application documents. The award presentation of ASRIA ceremony event is usually held in conjunction with the annual International Conference on Corporate Social Responsibility or other Conferences. The Award is a recognized personalized mark of distinction that speaks volumes to everyone you talk to.

ASRIA has been featured in the Academic Council on The United Nations System publication. Also it has been featured in the UNESCO-FUUH and European Commission (CEC) funding project of which our effort to PROMOTE WORLD PEACE THROUGH CULTIVATING CSR PRACTICE ASPECTS is highly appreciated by various levels of society globally.

The ASRIA Awards are known by 187 member nations to UNESCO commissions. ASRIA is a BRAND and ENDORSEMENT for CSR practicing Companies, Institutions, NGOs and individuals. The Award in recognizing responsible Corporate, Institutions, NGOs and individuals working together in collaboration with all countries around the world on six continents for Promoting World Peace by Cultivating Social Responsibility Practice as one of the keys to our universal mission.

After a thorough consideration by the Board of trustees of the ASRIA Election Board, we decided to present ASRIA Awards in different countries. The important thing is to keep things moving and achieving in a more persistent manner whatever the obstacles. This is the spirit that ASRIA should sustain. We have a lot more to do in other parts of the world but since we are doing things by phases, we should just patiently wait until the other areas are ready.
